Google Files: How to Save Files in a Private Folder

There’s usually always someone that thinks that just because you left your phone unlocked, they have the right to browse through it. Since there are usually files with sensitive information on our devices, it’s best to keep those files out of reach.
If you’re looking for a good file manager and an app with a feature to keep your important files safe, Google Files is a good option. It’s an easy to use app that gives you the option to put files in a locked file.
Files added to the Safe Folder can only be accessed after entering a 4-digit PIN but can be freely moved in or out of the folder. Google encrypts the files in the Safe Folder, meaning they can’t be decrypted if you ever forget the 4-digit PIN. Furthermore, the Safe Folder isn’t saved to the cloud, so you can’t transfer its contents between devices.
How to Send Sensitive Files to Safe FolderIf you haven’t done so already, go ahead and install the Google Files app on your Android device. Once you’ve opened the app, tap on the Browse tab at the bottom. Look through your files and select the files you want to protect with a code.
Once you’ve selected the files, tap, not he dots at the top right. Choose the Move to safe folder option. You’ll be asked to create a four-digit pin to access the safe folder. Since it’s the first time to access the safe folder, you’ll be asked to enter the pin twice.
Tap on the dots to the right of the file. You can do things to your file such as Delete, Move out of safe folder, and File info. That’s all there is to it. Many apps have this feature, but it’s good to know how to use it if you’re already using it.
ConclusionEven if you don’t usually lend your phone to someone, it’s a good idea to have any important files in the safe folder. You never know when you might need to lend your phone to someone in the last minutes. That way, you prevent those files from being seen by others.
