Understanding and maintaining laptop batteries

Who wants to make an urgent dash to a power outlet to rescue their laptop battery? That’s no fun, especially with everyone working and learning from home these days in various corners of the house that may not have a convenient socket nearby. Luckily, modern laptops are much more efficient than their predecessors. Nowadays, even inexpensive desktop-replacement laptops and some gaming behemoths can last for more than eight hours on a single charge. Ultraportables often endure for 14 hours or more.
Three types of batteries power the laptops you’ll find in service today, nickel cadmium (NiCad), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), and lithium ion (Li-ion), with Li-ion being the most common in newer laptops. Each battery type has a different chemistry for generating a charge and, therefore, different characteristics.
CapacityThe capacity of batteries is measured by power delivered per battery weight, rate of self-discharge, and useful cycles. Power is often measured in watt-hours per kilogram, or Wh/kg. Self-discharge refers to the fact that all batteries lose power when they’re stored. Cycle refers to how many times a battery can be taken from a full charge to a full discharge before the battery can no longer hold power.
The fact that batteries discharge over time is affected by temperature. At higher temperatures, the discharge rate is faster. The general rule to follow is to store them in a cool place and use them at room temperature.
Nickel cadmiumIn tests performed in a lab by Cadex Electronics, Inc., nickel cadmium batteries had a life of 1500 cycles, which means they went from full charge to full discharge 1500 times before giving out. Because of the chemistry of this battery, however, NiCads can suffer from a so-called memory effect. 
And like NiCad batteries, if you don’t fully discharge and recharge them periodically, their useful life is reduced. You could potentially get only 175 cycles out of them. On the other hand, they do better than NiCads when you discharge them only a little bit before recharging. Unlike NiCad cells, you increase the number of cycles when you work with your laptop unplugged for just a little while, then plug it in and recharge the batteries. Remember, NiCads like to be fully emptied, NiMH batteries prefer to be only partially drained.
Lithium ionOf the types of batteries mentioned here, lithium ion cells have some powerful advantages. They have an energy density of 150 watt-hours per kilogram. Like NiMHs, Li-ion batteries have no memory effect. That is, they don’t lose the capacity to fully charge if they aren’t fully drained. Left on the shelf, they lose the least power. Their discharge rate, at 10 percent per month, gives them a good storage life (but they must be used within two years of manufacture).

Malfunction or repair of which can cost you not only direct loss of time and cost but can also bring functions to a slow down. Maintaining a Barcode Scanner isn’t rocket science, however, it is very easy to overlook mistakes you could be doing on a daily basis that affect the lifespan and durability of your scanner and bringing in stress.
When using a Li-ion battery for the first time, follow the manufacturer’s instructions on charging.  If the instructions tell you to charge your device overnight, charge it overnight.Charge your battery at room temperature between 4ºC – 32ºC.Battery Life Checklist:Follow this check-list to maximise your device’s battery life
Set your LCD display back-light to the lowest readable level. Set it to auto-dim after 15 seconds of idle time.Audible sounds use valuable battery power. Do you need them?  Turn them off or set the audible volume to its lowest practical level.
Do you have 4G capability?  Turn it off if you’ve got Wifi access.

Label your batteries.  Try and use the same batteries in the same mobile device (try not to mix them up).Change your battery as promptly as possible when you see the low power alert on your LCD screen display.

Cleaning your battery contacts with a pencil eraser every few months means they will charge properly.

Caring for the Camera and Battery: Cautions

Keep dry: This product is not waterproof, and may malfunction if immersed in water or exposed to high levels of humidity. Rusting of the internal mechanism can cause irreparable damage.
Do not leave the lens pointed at the sun: Do not leave the lens pointed at the sun or other strong light source for an extended period. Intense light may cause the image sensor to deteriorate or produce a white blur effect in photographs.
Turn the product off before removing or disconnecting the power source: Do not unplug the product or remove the battery while the product is on or while images are being recorded or deleted. Forcibly cutting power in these circumstances could result in loss of data or in damage to product memory or internal circuitry. To prevent an accidental interruption of po wer, avoid carrying the product from one location to another while the AC adapter is connected.
The lens and mirror are easily damaged. Dust and lint should be gently removed with a blower. When using an aerosol blower, keep the can vertical to prevent discharge of liquid. To remove fingerprints and other stains from the lens, apply a small amount of lens cleaner to a soft cloth and wipe the lens carefully.
The shutter curtain may appear to be unevenly colored, but this has no affect on pictures and does not indicate a malfunction.
To prevent mold or mildew, take the camera out of storage at least once a month. Turn the camera on and release the shutter a few times before putting it away.
Notes on the monitor: The monitor is constructed with extremely high precision; at least 99.99% of pixels are effective, with no more than 0.01% being missing or defective. Hence while these displays may contain pixels that are always lit (white, red, blue, or green) or always off (black), this is not a malfunction and has no effect on images recorded with the device.
Images in the monitor may be difficult to see in a bright light.
Do not apply pressure to the monitor, as this could cause damage or malfunction. Dust or lint on the monitor can be removed with a blower. Stains can be removed by wiping lightly with a soft cloth or chamois leather. Should the monitor break, care should be taken to avoid injury from broken glass and to prevent liquid crystal from the monitor touching the skin or entering the eyes and mouth.
The batteryand charger: Batteries may leak or explode if improperly handled. Observe the following precautions when handling batteries and chargers:
Use only batteries approved for use in this equipment. Do not expose the battery to flame or excessive heat.Keep the battery terminals clean.

How to repair lithium batteries ?What is the Lithium battery repair method ?

1. Use a clean eraser or other cleaning tool to gently wipe the metal contacts on the lithium battery and the metal contacts on the phone to help with the charging status and power lasting.
