How to Use AutoFill on Your iPhone

Your iPhone, iPad or Mac can automatically enter your information – including passwords and payment data – on websites at a touch of a button with Auto Fill, here’s how to set it up, how to keep your data safe, and how to correct AutoFill when it enters the wrong information

Use Contact Info: Tap On and Safari fills in online forms with your personal information. That personal information is pulled from your information in Contacts. You should see your own name in theSaved Passwords: my Info option field.

When you are filling in a form, tap AutoFill on keyboard and Safari copies the information you have saved in the name, address, phone number, and e-mail address fields of your own Contacts card and pastes those bits of information into the appropriate fields.

Names and Passwords: Tap the option On if you want Safari to remember any user names and passwords you type to access certain web pages. The first time you type your name and password on a web page that requires that information, Safari displays a pop-up message, asking if you’d like to save the password.

Saved Passwords: Tap to see a list of websites for which you have a saved name and password. Tap the disclosure arrow to the right of the website to see the user name and password spelled out. To delete any of the websites, tap Edit in the upper right corner.

Tap the radio button to the left of the website you want to delete; a check mark appears. Tap the Delete button in the upper left corner.

Always Allow: Tap on to override websites that prefer passwords not be saved. You have to have Passcode Lock turned on to enable this option and if you don’t, when you tap it on, you’re automatically led through the steps to create one.

If you turn off Passcode Lock, a dialog asks if you want to continue to use AutoFill in Safari since without the security of a Passcode, anyone who uses your iPhone could access any AutoFill information you keep in Safari, including your stored credit card information. Use AutoFill without a Passcode only if you keep your iPhone chained to your body.

Some websites have a Remember Me option for usernames and passwords that works if you accept cookies, in which case Safari doesn’t ask if you want it to remember because the website takes care of that.

Credit Cards: If you shop frequently online, this feature can be a real timesaver. Tap on and then tap Saved Credit Cards➪Add Credit Card to add your cardholder information to Safari. When you purchase something online, tap in the credit card field and then tap AutoFill Credit Card.

Safari will automatically fill in the credit card information. If you have information for more than one credit card saved, a list of the last four digits of the card appear. Tap the card you want to pay with.

Grayscale: How to Turn On Black & White Mode on Your iPhone Screen

As the generation that straddles the before and after of smartphone ubiquity, we’re in the unique position of trying to control something we know has power over us without knowing exactly how or the full picture of why we must.

We check our phones 52 times a day, on average, and tend to get easily sucked in to their time-warping, captivating, infinitely expansive little worlds. It’s not always feasible to turn our phones off or to switch them to airplane mode (and we waste cognitive resources ignoring our phones even when they’re off), so many of us have no choice but to continue on being servants to our smartphones.

How to Change from a Color to Black & White Display on Your iPhone
1.Tap the Settings app.
2.Tap Accessibility.
3.Select Display & Text Size.
4.Tap on Color Filters.
5.Toggle on Color Filters.
6.Tap Grayscale.

If you’re color blind, you can select the filter or tint that works best for your vision.

Interestingly, when you do a screen capture of grayscale, the resulting image is still colored. And the picture immediately above is misleading because it shows grayscale turned on, but the screen is still colored. In actuality, it will appear gray as soon as you turn on the setting.

How to Access a VPN on Your iPhone

1.First, sign up and create an account on the VPN provider’s website. At the time of writing, NordVPN was offering 68% off a two-year subscription.2.Download the NordVPN app on your iPhone or iPad.3.Open the app and tap the LOG IN button, and enter the account details you created in step 1.4.You’ll be asked if you want to allow notifications. You can choose your preference: they’re not essential.5.Tap the Quick Connect button.6.You’ll be asked to give permission. Click on Got it to approve.7.You’ll see a message saying that NordVPN would like to Add VPN configurations. This is the automatic setup part, so you can click on Allow.8.You may be asked to enter your passcode, or Touch ID or Face ID will be used to grant that permission. This process allows NordVPN to set up a VPN setting on your phone – you can see at Settings > General.9.You should now be connected to the best server, chosen automatically by the Quick Connect feature. That’s usually in the same country as you are.10.While the connection is running, all internet traffic from your iPhone will be routed via that server and is encrypted. You can switch to other apps and everything should work as normal, although certain banking apps might not work as they provide encryption themselves, so you shouldn’t need to use a VPN when using your online bank app.
After you’ve configured your iPhone for VPN usage, you can turn that capability on or off by tapping (yep) the VPN On or Off switch inside Settings.
